Informational Biographies

These informational passages provide students with an opportunity to connect social studies and language arts. These articles can be used all year long.  Students will learn about the history of these United States of America Presidents.  As they read these biographies, students will work on reading comprehension and summarizing what they read.  Students can use their summaries to create a final Presidential History Yearbook.  This is a great activity to complete in February as part of your Presidents’ Day lessons, or any time you are working on biographies or these historical figures.  View the preview to see more about this engaging U.S. Presidents reading activity.

The yearbook entries are designed to be completed after reading the articles. Once completed, students can design their own yearbook to keep this resource all year long!

Articles can be printed and put together as a book, displayed around the classroom, or put in small groups for station activities!

The Informational Text & Presidential Biographies resource includes:

• 44 non-fiction articles available in 2 versions: printer friendly (black/white clipart) or in color
• Yearbook style summary pages – 3 leveled options: blank version, lined version, and pre-completed version that includes the president name, years in office, vice president name, political party, and first lady name.
• Additional cards with president name and years in office, cards with just years, and cards with just names. This provides you with the ability to implement a variety of sorting activities, timelines, and matching activities.

Bulletin Board

Display the presidents with a picture, short description about their presidency, and choose the bulletin board title that best fits your classroom. This bulletin board shouldn’t be limited to just February or President’s Day – it could be used all year long to celebrate the leaders of our country.  Students will learn about US history through this bulletin board set.
