Keep your students engaged on Valentine’s Day with this perfect Plan a Sweet Treat Party PBL math activity! Students will practice adding and subtracting decimals while selecting their favorite dessert items to plan a party. How to Use:
- Students will select items from the “Sweet Treats Store” to purchase. They’ll pick their favorite cakes, pies, cupcakes, pancakes, and other dessert items.
- Students will then add up the price of their party as they draw the desserts on the recording sheet.
Creative Ways to Set Up:
- Print the store on cardstock and give to each group or partner set.
- Print the store on poster paper and display at the front of the room.
- Print the store on paper and display in multiple places around the room.
- Print the store on paper and display in picture frames or plastic sleeves.

Directions:
In this fun and interactive adding decimals activity, students are asked to plan a sweet treat party on a budget. Using the provided supply menus, students will practice adding as they determine which supplies to use to create their party. There are leveled activities with increasing complexity in numbers. This makes it easy for you to differentiate for the needs of your students.
