Description
Your first through third grade students will absolutely love the Contractions Game! This grammar game focuses on contractions by asking students to identify the contractions they see on the contractions game board. Students will read the contraction and then provide the two words used to create the given contraction. Use this contractions game for small groups, partners, literacy centers, or writing centers. You will love how this engaging grammar game gets students writing contractions from the contractions game board onto the response sheet for extra writing practice. The response sheet is also great accountability for students completing the activity during independent centers.

You’ll need a dice or a spinner, in addition to a game piece for each player. The youngest person will start first. Roll the die and move the number of spaces shown on the die. Each person will solve the problem on their own recording sheet. Double check your answers with your classmates. If you have the same answer (or correct answers), the next person should roll the dice. If you have wrong answers, discuss it with your team. If you land on a space with an arrow, you must solve the problem before moving to the next space.
